I am a K-6th grade Special Education teacher. I have been in this role for 4 years. I graduated from WGU with a degree in K-12 Special Education, Mild to Moderate Behavior. I am halfway through my Master's in Curriculum and Instruction. My current average students are 2nd-6th grade, but I have worked with students as young as Kindergarten.
I work with students with a diagnosis of Dyslexia, ADHD, Autism, and Specific Learning Disability. As a Special Education teacher, I teach reading, writing, and math skills. My preference is working with students who have a deficit/gaps in basic reading skills (phonemics, phonics, decoding, etc.).
I am trained in Pathways Phonemics and Rite Flight Reading Comprehension. Since I am a Special Education teacher, I have significant practice in building the right program to suit an individual student's needs. I have worked with students before and after school that are general education students that require additional help in reading skills to prepare them for the rigor of the classroom expectations.
