However, the thing that brings me the most joy is running into former students and hearing about *their* successes and how our work prepared them.
Over the past ten years, I have helped students increase SAT and ACT scores through methods tailored to student needs, including (but not limited to) passage and answer choice annotation, topic awareness, and resource application. My scaffolded approach allows students to not only internalize the strategies but also see how they might apply to other endeavors. Many of my test prep students have transitioned to college admissions students, and we navigate the process of applying for both the Common App and independent scholarships with individualized care. We follow the writing process from brainstorming to drafting to revising and editing in a way that allows students to see their essay become their best writing. Some recent celebrations include a student scoring a 36 on the ACT Math section; students getting Early Action acceptances to MIT, Notre Dame, and UNC-Chapel Hill; and a student scoring 1530 on the SAT!
When I'm not tutoring or working at my full-time education job, I enjoy reading, playing Dungeons and Dragons, and playing with my two dogs. My favorite class is Druid, and my most recent read was Babel by R.F. Kuang. I hope to hear from you soon!
