While working on my Associate's, I was awarded a level 1 CRLA tutor certification. I primarily tutor online. I strive to create engaging and helpful environments during each session with my students.
The majority of my students have been middle, high school, and college level math and computer science students. However, I'm open to working with any age group. In the past 4 years, I've specialized in working with special needs students, particularly neurodivergent students (ADD, ADHD, ASD, dyscalculia, etc.). Most of my experience is one-on-one sessions. I have also done plenty of small and large group sessions to feel comfortable in that format as well. I'm aware that some students do better one-on-one, and others feel more comfortable in a group. I'm pretty flexible to whatever the student believes is in their best interest.
A typical session would include plenty of time for the student to ask questions. My goal, above all else, is that my students get the best possible opportunity to truly explore and connect with the material. My hope is that all of my students can accomplish their goals, academic and personal, and obtain a strong understanding of various concepts. I often help the student work through practice problems either from their own materials or from problems that I create. Additionally, I may give an additional problem set from a free online resource. Some students find this helpful for additional practice on their own. I must stress that this is just a brief overview of the most common components of a session with me. Each student and session are different, and I adapt my style to the needs of each individual.
