Our society is raising expectations for students, and recent years have been especially difficult for many. That's where I come in! I bridge the gap between academic expectations and one-to-one expertise. Contact me to help your student keep moving forward throughout the summer and into the fall!

I have taught in Public Schools for the past four years and have tutored through Wyzant for the past eight. Before that, I managed a private national learning center, working with students of all ages in test prep; homework support; remedial work; and enrichment in math, English, reading, and writing. I take pride in explaining concepts clearly, providing relevant examples, and seeing my students light up when they finally get it! I also believe in giving back to others and was recognized multiple years as an "Above and Beyond" volunteer in my local school district.

Having tutored ACT/SAT and other standardized tests for years, I am familiar with all subjects and know how to explain the necessary skills and concepts to my students. Whenever possible, I incorporate standardized test strategies and study skills into all of my tutoring activities.

I have an M.A. in Education and a B.A. in Mathematics. Licensed to teach in Minnesota, I have passed state exams for math, science, English, and social studies. If you're looking to keep your student on track, stress-free, and moving forward, let's get started!

Elementary Math

I am familiar with the math taught at every elementary grade level (and I passed the Minnesota Teacher Licensing Exams for math with a perfect score on my very first attempt!). My approach is to teach the students so well that they can turn around and teach the newly learned skills to others.

Amazing teacher! Highly recommended!!

We have nothing but positive things to say about Paul H! In just a couple weeks he brought my daughters Geometry grade from a D- to a B-. He was very patient, tailored to her learning style and broke everything down so she could understand it. He always responded to my messages immediately and was extremely flexible in scheduling. He even accommodated lessons in 2 different locations and handled scheduling with both myself and my ex husband. Paul always showed up on time, got right to work and never wasted a minute of our time. My daughter lost her prep pages before one of our lessons and Paul took charge, creating a lesson for her so she didn't miss a night of studying before finals. Thank You, Paul! I don't know what we would have done without you!!

Practical and insightful tutor

Our daughter was looking to increase her confidence before her first ACT exam. Paul was a fantastic tutor, helping her break down simple strategies to prepare and how to work through the different sections of the exam. After a few sessions, we noticed a different attitude and belief from our daughter that she was ready to succeed.

Great approach with teenagers!

Paul helped my son put together all the pieces in his Algebra 2/Tri honors class which he was struggling with due to missing several weeks at the start of school. We plan to hire Paul again when he needs additional help.

Great first meeting

My son really warmed up to Paul after a short amount of time. My son is shy and anxious especially around new people. After the lesson he felt very comfortable and was happy with the session. So was I.

Helpful and knowledgeable tutor.

Paul is an amazing tutor, he helped me prepare for the ACT. He was very knowledgeable about all of the sections of the test and he was able to provide many test taking tips. He was able to teach and review any sections that I struggled with. He was always early for our lessons and he made sure that I got the most benefit possible out of each session.

Great tutor!

Paul helped my sons prepare for both the PSAT and SAT. He gave great tips, strategies, etc. for both tests that were tailored to my sons based on their skills and weaknesses. He was great at keeping me updated. It was also obvious that he cared about whether they succeeded. Thanks, Paul!
