I am a current senior History and Sociology/Anthropology double major at Carleton College. As a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society (3.95 GPA), and a research assistant to my anthropology and archaeology professors, I have extensive experience writing, reading, and editing all kinds of academic material. I additionally worked as a reading and SAT tutor throughout high school (with students ranging from age 7 to 16), and, with this experience, have been employed as a Teaching Assistant for two years, guiding other undergraduate students through their humanities coursework.

Fundamentally, I love to read and write, and I also love teaching people ways to improve their reading and writing! I believe that students learn best in an encouraging environment, and I therefore aim to cultivate a trusting, light-hearted relationship with my students. As a good proofreader, I also am more than willing to read through essays or other assignments and offer thorough edits.

Anthropology

Anthropology

Having taken anthropological coursework for the past four years, I am well-versed in research methods and theory. I additionally was selected to be the only research assistant for a Carleton anthropology professor, as well as coded interviews for Dr. David Grusky's Stanford University research project. This past summer, I conducted an independent, interview-based study centered on maternal morbidity rates in West Virginia and South Carolina. I have thus gained almost two years of in-depth research experience. My individual research primarily focuses on urban vs. rural socioeconomic divides, early childhood outcomes, and maternal health inequality in Southern Appalachia.
Archaeology

Archaeology

As an undergraduate student studying archaeology, my coursework has provided me with an extensive foundation in excavation methods, artifact analysis, and teaching. For the past two years I was employed as a Teaching Assistant for Archaeological Methods and Experimental Archaeology courses. I currently serve as the Archaeology Department's Student Departmental Advisor. In addition to this experience, I worked as an undergraduate researcher on the Small Cycladic Islands Project for three years, conducting fieldwork in the summer and managing the artifact database during academic terms.
Violin

Violin

I began playing violin when I was three years old and quickly advanced to a competitive level. Attending Mannes School of Music for eight years, I switched teachers, ultimately entering Juilliard Pre-College and graduating in 2025. While I am not pursuing violin on a professional level anymore, instead choosing an academic path, I continue to play music in my spare time. I love teaching others to love violin and classical music!
