I'm an experienced teacher who has now transitioned to online tutoring as I raise my family. I have taught for eight years in a variety of circumstances. My specialties are in mathematics and language arts. I enjoy the opportunity to work individually with students to build on their personal strengths and encourage them in areas in which they struggle.

When teaching, I emphasize students practicing the material at hand and helping them to gain confidence in their own abilities. I often add tips or shortcuts that can help make math simpler and easier to understand. If teaching reading or writing, I also try to make the students feel comfortable and to build on their existing strengths as we work to push their abilities further.

I have a bachelors in Elementary Education and one of my specialties in Math for Elementary Education. I have taught elementary and middle school math for seven years in a variety of contexts. I have used several types of math curriculum and I utilize a variety of strategies to help students understand mathematical concepts. I have also taught some high school math and tutored college students in Calculus.
