Hello! I’m Heather, a retired elementary school teacher with a Bachelor’s degree in English from Michigan State University and a Michigan K–5 Professional Teaching Certificate. With over 25 years of experience working with young learners, I’ve taught Kindergarten and First Grade, served as a reading specialist, and worked as an ESL teacher, giving me a well-rounded background in supporting diverse learners. I am also an Orton-Gillingham Associate in training, specializing in structured, multisensory literacy instruction for students with dyslexia and other reading challenges. My experience spans whole classrooms, small groups, and one-on-one settings, so I know how to adapt lessons to meet each child’s unique needs.
I tutor students in grades K–5 who need support in reading, writing, and spelling. My sessions are engaging, emotionally sound, and personalized to help children build both skills and confidence. I begin with a free consultation to get to know your child and their learning style, and I ask for two hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Parents often tell me that my patience, structure, and proven methods help children make steady progress while feeling successful and motivated.
If your child could use extra support, I would love to help. Contact me today to schedule a free consultation—together, we’ll take the next step toward your child’s success!
