I'm a research psychologist and Ph.D. statistician. I'm easy to work with, and have a sense of humor! I've used SPSS statistical software for a number of years, writing specialized programs, and even own my own copy. I've been a luncheon speaker at a SPSS users group. I've worked on a great many applied research and program evaluation topics. These have included a wide range of topics, including: equal employment opportunity, employment discrimination, personnel research, organizational climate, and educational/training/bilingual/longitudinal program evaluation.

I am well-versed in attitude measurement, rating scale development, survey questionnaire design, not to mention a solid working knowledge of sampling methods. I know how to size up research issues, apply univariate and multivariate measurement techniques, program the analysis, set up statistical tables to display the major findings, interpret the results, and write a clear report summarizing those findings.

I've also written funding proposals for a number of consulting firms that bid on government contracts. Thus, I consider myself able to express myself and have a solid command of grammar. I've given seminars and invited luncheon speaker talks on using SPSS. For several organizations I've been a technical resource on research methods, including SPSS use, to fellow employees, and served as a methodology advisor on two doctoral dissertation committees. I've also worked with a number of graduate students on their masters theses or doctoral dissertations, strengthening their research designs, and how statistically defensible was their work.

On the side, I do a lot of volunteer work: I have experience singing in three choruses and have written press releases for a nonprofit organization for a number of years which have been sent to local newspapers and other publicity settings. I was the varsity basketball game PA announcer at City College of New York for 7 years, and for 20 years announced swimming/diving meets during summers at local recreation clubs, and winters at local high school meets. I also narrated a nationally distributed video on dealing with hate crimes. I've tutored first grade reading (to a student whose second language was English, first language Spanish). I'm proud that he definitely benefited from my working with him.

Proofreading

Since 1999, I have been publicity coordinator for a nonprofit organization, writing press releases, and editing materials to be grammatically correct and easily readable. Publicity coordinator for two international genealogy conferences, and in so doing wrote press releases or reviewed others' publicity materials for accurate and effective writing styles As senior personnel statistician for the FBI for 14 years, wrote over 100 technical reports and in that role, also was periodically asked to proofread other staff members' memoranda for clarity and effectiveness, a necessity since they were likely going to the Director of the FBI. I have experience as a Newsletter editor for two professional organizations, writing articles and proofreading others' submittals for style, grammar, conciseness, etc. Proofreader for two nonprofit organizations, reviewing manuscripts and columns written by others for spelling, grammatical phrasing, organization, etc. Periodically find typos in advertising materials of a choral group to which I belong, and advise that group's staff of those typos (such as spelling, incorrect choral performance site addresses, etc.). Plus, I have consulted to marketing firms and reviewed their proposals/marketing materials/brochures for spelling, grammar, style, logical inconsistencies in text, technical terms and concepts being included, etc.

Amazingly brilliant and humble tutor

Milton is simply wonderful! Not only does he know his stuff, but he's incredibly patient with someone who has little experience with statistics and tends to be overwhelmed with data analysis processes. His sense of humor is greatly appreciated and his skill set and knowledge base are exceptional. Yet this very intelligent and knowledgeable person is not the least bit condescending. Milton differentiates his instruction based on the person's comfort level with challenging or abstract concepts. He is the perfect tutor for anyone needing assistance with statistical analyses and especially SPSS. My confidence and comprehension have both benefited from my tutoring experience with Milton. He's the best!!!

Tutor responded:

Taylor, I thoroughly appreciate your glowing testimonial! There's a good reason that I come prepared to tutor students: because I want them to BENEFIT from working with me! And yes, it also helped that due to my years of using and tutoring SPSS, I was able to 'size up' the best ways of harnessing SPSS features to meet your needs. Thanks again, and much success to you in the future, Milton

Very knowledgeable

Milton was able to take the "foreign language" of statistics and translate it into English for me. We completed some SPSS basics as well as worked through statistical work problems looking for meaningfulness.

Milton is going to save my GPA!

We worked on the basics of SPSS. Walked through how the software does the analysis and on a few examples. I was able to get caught up on the last few weeks confident to go into the next few, even more confident that I can hire Milton again if I run into any problems!

Knowledgeable and kind tutor

Milton and I went over an ANOVA problem and he taught me very thoroughly step by step how to go through the problem. He's very keen on details and can you tell anything and everything about every step and concept!

Yureea, 1 lesson with Milton
Tutor responded:

Thanks very much, Yureea--it was a pleasure tutoring you. And the most important thing occurred--our step by step going over each part of the ANOVA problem worked, and you also saw how similar those steps were to the steps needed in the other similar ANOVA problems! You learned!! I'm very pleased at that, continued success in your schooling!
