Bio

I am currently a Bioinformatics scientist. I completed my PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Southern California in 2019. I finished my Bachelors degree in Biochemistry from UC San Diego and my Masters of Public Health from the University of Texas School of Public Health in Houston.

I have tutored for over 10 years with many different types of students, who I have hoped to inspire in Statistics, and Science. I work mostly with graduate and undergraduate students as a Lecturer in Biostatistics and Epidemiology, but have taught and tutored college level and high school level biology and mathematics/statistics. I have instructed in Linear and Logistic Regression courses, as well as Epidemiology courses.

I believe that both tutoring and mentoring are parts of the process of learning, and in addition to tutoring, have mentored many high schools students. My students enjoy the fact that I not only work with them with the material, but encourage them to be able to teach others .

I have 10+ years of coding experience in R, Stata, SPSS, and SAS!

I have been a biostatistics teaching assistant/tutor for our graduate programs at USC in our Department of Preventive Medicine. These courses have covered linear regression, logistic regression, poisson regression, and Cox proportional hazards modeling. My experience involves teaching both theoretical and applied biostatistics.

SAS

I am an epidemiologist/statistician that uses SAS to manage data and run statistical analyses. I have been using SAS for the past 3 years, and have helped teach and consult undergraduate/graduate students, medical students/clinicians to work through their data. My previous position held has been as a SAS teaching assistant at USC (Linear Regression), and in this course, I have taught SAS alongside linear regression. Course reviews have noted my high aptitude in SAS and they learned enough to be proficient in SAS.

STATA

I am an epidemiologist that uses STATA daily to manage data and run statistical analyses. I have been using STATA for the past 4 years, and have helped tutor and consult undergraduate/graduate students, medical students, and clinicians to work through data that has been collected. Depending on the situation, I have been able to teach or help consult on many projects/assignments to fruition. My methods include getting students to be self-sufficient in STATA to be able to run their analyses or be capable of figuring out their own problems.

Very knowledgeable

Darryl has helped me with biostatistics. He is very patient and goes over everything 2 to 3 times at least for all the material to stick in my head. He has a simple teaching style and is able to take complicated information and turn it into something I can understand and grasp. I've more in the 1 session than I have in almost 8 weeks of reading and some online lectures. I recommend him very much. He's a great teacher and knows what he's talking about when it comes to research articles and biostatistics! I am very grateful for his help.
