Hi--I'm Aaron!

I have a B.S. in Computer Science and Mathematics (double major) from the University of Maryland, College Park, graduating in 2020 with magna cum laude honors and a 3.96/4.0 GPA. Since graduating, I've worked as a Software Engineer at a Fortune 500 company, a Game Developer at an indie studio, a Data Analyst at a nonprofit, and most recently as a Data Scientist in the public healthcare space.

Hi--I'm Aaron!

I have a B.S. in Computer Science and Mathematics (double major) from the University of Maryland, College Park, graduating in 2020 with magna cum laude honors and a 3.96/4.0 GPA. Since graduating, I've worked as a Software Engineer at a Fortune 500 company, a Game Developer at an indie studio, a Data Analyst at a nonprofit, and most recently as a Data Scientist in the public healthcare space.

I began tutoring over ten years ago, and have since taught students in both classroom and one-on-one settings, with ages ranging from middle school through college. Before graduating as valedictorian of my high school class, I served as a volunteer peer tutor in a variety of subjects including math, computer science, and physics. As an undergraduate, I worked as a Teaching Assistant for three courses, including Head Teaching Assistant for one. Over my summer breaks, I mentored high school students in pre-college developmental programs.

My approach to teaching centers not only on conveying new information and strategies to students but also on developing their confidence as learners with unique perspectives and strengths. I'm of the belief that confidence is one of the most underappreciated factors when it comes to academic performance. All too often, students are hampered by a lack of self-belief as a result of previous negative experiences in school. I myself struggled a lot in grade school when my family moved abroad and I entered 5th grade without being able to speak the local language. It took many years, and a subsequent return to the United States, for me to able to find my groove as a student.

Best Discrete Math Tutor!

I met with many tutors before I finally connected with Aaron, and he was the only one that made me thoroughly understand the content. He’s patient and ensures that you understand the topic before he moves on. After meeting with him I easily got an A on my exam, and barely had to study because I had mastered all the content. Highly recommend him!!

I was struggling a lot with Discrete Math as I had an average of C on my exams. But after a couple of sessions with Aaron, my confidence in Discrete Math topics greatly improved. He has many of his own ways/shortcuts that I was not taught in class, and those shortcuts significantly helped me with understanding of the material. He was calm, patient, and I love his teaching style of letting me problem solve rather than telling me the answer to see my comprehension of the material. After only about four sessions with Aaron, I was able to go from a C+ overall class average to an A. I highly recommend Aaron, especially if you need a quick review session with him!

Best guidance

Aaron isn’t a tutor who simply provides answers to homework or gives a direct solution. His main goal was always to guide my thinking and approach when needed and help me work through difficult concepts or problems. I have been struggling with discrete mathematics for quite some time, but with Aaron’s help, I was able to better my thought process behind problems and improve tremendously in the course. It is easy to use AI to do your homework for you or get answers from a friend, but I think a tutor like Aaron is what really ensures lasting improvement in the long run. Couldn’t recommend enough!
