Creative Writing

Creative Writing

I can help writers develop stronger storytelling skills by focusing on character depth, narrative structure, pacing, and emotional impact. With years of undergrad classwork, personal hobby experience, and a BA in English in addition to a 6 years of professional writing and editing experience, I can guide students through techniques that strengthen voice, clarity, and creativity. I can break down complex elements of story craft (e.g., conflict, theme, dialogue, scene construction, etc.) into manageable, understandable steps. Whether a student is building a short story, refining a poem, or developing a larger narrative, I can provide constructive feedback and strategies that allow their ideas to grow into compelling writing.
English

English

I hold a B.A. in English from the University of California, Davis, where I focused on academic writing, literary analysis, rhetoric, and research. I am currently completing an M.S. in Technical Communication at Arizona State University, which further strengthens my expertise in writing, editing, clarity, and communication. I previously worked as an English Writing Learning Facilitator at Estrella Mountain Community College, where I tutored students one-on-one in grammar, organization, thesis development, essay structure, research skills, and revision strategies. I have several years of professional experience as a technical writer and editor, producing high-quality written content for proposals, reports, and complex documents that require precision, clarity, and strong communication skills. Across all levels, from middle school to college, I have helped students express ideas clearly, build strong writing habits, and develop confidence in their abilities.
Essay Writing

Essay Writing

I specialize in helping students craft clear, well-organized essays that follow strong rhetorical structure and academic standards. With a graduate background in Technical Communication and years of experience analyzing, reviewing, and editing academic (and professional) writing, I teach students how to develop strong thesis statements, support their arguments with evidence, and build cohesive paragraphs by utilizing the Socratic Method. I also break down essay expectations into practical steps, making the writing process less overwhelming and easier to master. Whether students struggle with brainstorming, organizing ideas, revising drafts, or refining grammar and tone, I provide targeted guidance that builds lasting writing skills.
Fiction Writing

Fiction Writing

I specialize in helping writers craft compelling narratives by emphasizing plot development, world-building, character arcs, and engaging dialogue. Drawing from my BA in English, extensive undergraduate creative writing coursework, my own ongoing hobby work, and 6 years of professional writing and editing experience, I can guide students through the process of shaping cohesive story lines that flow naturally and maintain reader interest. I break down key elements of fiction (e.g., scene progression, stakes, tension, genre conventions, etc.) into clear, actionable concepts that are easy to apply. Whether students are developing a short story, working on a novel chapter, or revising a draft, I offer focused, realistic feedback that strengthens their storytelling and elevates their creative voice.
Microsoft Outlook

Microsoft Outlook

I have nearly 10 years of experience using Microsoft Outlook in fast-paced professional environments where organization and communication are critical. I can teach students how to manage inboxes efficiently, automate emails, organize folders, integrate calendars, and streamline daily workflow using Outlook’s advanced features. My background in proposal management and project coordination allows me to demonstrate real-world techniques for scheduling, task tracking, and managing high-volume communications. Whether someone needs help learning the basics or wants to implement advanced rules, automation, and productivity strategies, I can provide step-by-step guidance tailored to their goals.
SAT Reading

SAT Reading

I previously scored a 750 on the SAT Reading & Writing section and hold a B.A. in English from the University of California, Davis, with a strong foundation in reading comprehension, textual analysis, and rhetorical interpretation. I am currently pursuing an M.S. in Technical Communication at Arizona State University, which sharpens my expertise in critical reading, analysis, and clear communication. I have prior experience as a college writing and reading tutor, where I worked one-on-one with students to strengthen reading comprehension, vocabulary skills, passage analysis, and test-taking strategies. Professionally, I work as a technical writer and editor—roles that require precise, analytical reading and the ability to distill complex information quickly and accurately. For SAT Reading, I teach students how to break down passages, identify main ideas, recognize rhetorical strategies, eliminate trap answers, and approach each question type with confidence. My goal is to help students read faster, understand more deeply, and choose correct answers consistently using reliable methods.
