Bio

I'm a cybersecurity engineer on a federal Security Operations Center (SOC) team. Day to day I run the enterprise security platforms that find vulnerabilities, monitor the network, and support investigations, and I harden and automate the Red Hat Linux servers behind them. I hold CompTIA Security+, RHCE, and RHCSA, and I've worked in federal Linux and infrastructure since 2015. I've also completed graduate coursework in Business & Technology Management at Stevenson University.

I'm a cybersecurity engineer on a federal Security Operations Center (SOC) team. Day to day I run the enterprise security platforms that find vulnerabilities, monitor the network, and support investigations, and I harden and automate the Red Hat Linux servers behind them. I hold CompTIA Security+, RHCE, and RHCSA, and I've worked in federal Linux and infrastructure since 2015. I've also completed graduate coursework in Business & Technology Management at Stevenson University.

I work with two kinds of students: college and grad students taking cybersecurity or information security courses (plus Security+ candidates), and career changers, help-desk techs, and junior admins preparing for the RHCSA (EX200) and RHCE (EX294) exams. Either way, I teach the skills I use in production: security fundamentals, vulnerability management, users and permissions, storage and LVM, systemd, networking, SELinux, firewalld, Podman containers, Bash scripting, Ansible, and Linux hardening.

My lessons are lab-first. From the first session you work in real RHEL virtual labs, following a plan mapped to the official exam objectives, with timed practice tasks, quizzes, and full mock exams. I tutor adults one-on-one and in small cohorts, adjust to your pace, and tie every skill back to real sysadmin work so you can talk about it confidently in interviews. Many of my students have passed their certifications and landed system administrator roles.

Outside my day job, I am the founder of Root & Secure, a Linux security training business, where I create hands-on training for people breaking into Linux and security.
