I have been tutoring since 2003 and can cover anything from pre-algebra through Calculus. My approach is a very low pressure and easy going way of learning. I don't make any extra work for students (unless requested), as I find most of them bogged down already.
I simply help students understand what they are currently working on in school and then fill in the gaps in their knowledge. When a student doesn't understand something, I go back to what they do understand and build on that.
I also love playing chess and have taught many young people the game. By starting out with just a few pieces at a time, new players are not overwhelmed by the complexity of the game. Scott has been an amazing help for my son! Since Scott has started working with him, his fundamental understanding of Algebra 1 has increased substantially...along with his test scores! Scott has a low pressure method of teaching, which my son responds very well to. He met my son where he was at, and personalized his lessons to address his specific areas of need. He is very intuitive and extremely knowledgeable. The best part of all is that my son's confidence in his ability has increased. He looks forward to meeting with Scott every week. I highly recommend Scott to any parent looking for thorough, but kind guidance for their child.
Scott was awesome! He helped me fully grasp the material. Even though I hadn't taken a math class in 5 years . His tutoring sessions allowed me to catch up to my fellow classmates and even ahead ! He is easy going and accommodates all learning styles and levels !
Scott was able to recognize my skill level and adjusted the session in order for me to develop a better understanding of Photoshop. He suggested what I should do to improve my understanding of photoshop and all of the functionalities photoshop has to offer. I would recommend Scott to anyone who is looking to learn more about Photoshop.
Scott has been incredibly helpfully with my daughter who absolutely hates math and struggles with it all the time. He has helped her gain confidence and get a better grade.
Scott has already made a huge difference in my daughter's confidence in math. After just 3 sessions, her grade went to a high B. She says he manages to make Algebra I make sense. He's good at what he does!
I can't say enough about Scott. My son has been tutored by Scott for about a month now and I am seeing great improvement in his grade. He's more confident and ready for tests.
Scott is helping my son to prepare to SAT test. Math was never the strongest subject of my son. Scott was very helpful and patient during his lesson. I like his style and approach. Scott's explanations were clear and to the point. We will definitely use him again.
Scott was an excellent choice. It was easy to schedule with him and we would like to work with him again if needed.
We went over intermediate algebra. He helped prepare for a test, I feel more confident now. I would absolutely want his help in the future.
Demystified SAT math problems, helped with calculus homework. Scott patiently worked through math problems with my child. We are extremely busy, but scheduling with Scott is not an issue - he is available to help.
Scott is so very patient and he really is interested in you learning and understanding math. He helped me review for a Math exam to get into nursing school and he helped review concepts I knew, but was not very sure of. After several meetings I felt more confident about the problems and my ability to pass my exam. Very easy to work with. He was always on time and flexible flexible with his schedule.
My daughter's quote when he left after the first lesson, "I wish he could teach my class." Thank you Scott for helping my daughter reclaim her self-confidence in math. Highly recommended!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
The ACT math section has a lot in common with the SAT, both of which I have been helping students with for years. Doing as many practice problems as possible is the best way to get familiar with the questions. We'll discuss different approaches that can be taken to solve the different types of problems and reinforce any concepts that are weak or may have been missed by the student along the way.
I have been tutoring algebra 1 since 2003.
I have been tutoring Algebra 2 since 2003.
After looking into what is on the ASVAB test I wanted to become qualified to tutor for it. I passed the WyzAnt ASVAB content test with 100% and found that it is not much different than when I tutor for my other subjects.
I have been tutoring AP Calculus AB since 2003.
I love teaching chess to new players. By only introducing one piece at a time, newcomers to the game are never overwhelmed by the complexity of the game. Usually we start with a "pawn battle" and add an additional piece each game.
I have been tutoring geometry since 2003.
I have been an outdoor school/event photographer for 3 years. I have experience with several Canon DSLRs using natural as well as off camera lighting (flash). I specialize in outdoor school photography where we take students through a variety of poses and expressions. The trick is finding the right spot with even lighting and a nice background. Then you just pop a little flash, look for it in the eyes and you're set!
I have been tutoring pre calculus since 2003.
I have helped many students prepare for the Math section of the SATs every year since 2003.
