Bio

Hello! My name is TJ Martin and I'm a tutor, composer, and sound designer! While most of my students are in grades 7-12, I've also worked with kids as young as 6 and older students over 65. While I'm a professional video game composer and most of my expertise is in that, I've helped many students survive their math classes, excel at their SAT/ACTs, and polish well-written essays for their college applications.

A little about me: I'm originally from Connecticut and I did my undergrad in composition at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore. During my time their, I met Ashley Guchhait and Kyrstin Cooksey, with whom we founded Boba Studios, the independent game studios I work at. After graduating, I moved across the country to San Francisco where I got my Master's at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Currently, I'm doing a one year post-graduate degree at SFCM, honing my music production skills.

While most of my education focused on music, I never let the more academic side slack. I've been keeping my math up by doing it with students for years. Meanwhile, my history knowledge has been kept up both by my own studying, but also by my musicological work, which led to me presenting a paper last year at the Music and the Moving Image conference in New York City. Out of these, however, I use my reading and writing skills the most. Not only have I worked at SFCM's writing center editing essays and helping ESL students improve their reading and writing skills in English, but I also currently work writing program notes for SFCM.

Thank you so much, and stay safe during these turbulent times!

Great tutor for my son!

Terrence was so patient throughout the session and I could tell my son was finally starting to understand! Thanks for all your help! This was our first time having a session through this site and I can't recommend it enough.

HES THERE FOR YOU, patient and willing to listen.

By far the greatest choice I made, has been to sign up and take a session. I understand entirely and can not wait to have More questions to bring up to him. I am up and running and ready to continue my path into music. Thank you Terrence!
