While completing my PhD in American, Atlantic, and Intellectual history, I taught courses from Early American History to the History of Sport.

I have taught hundreds of undergraduates and tutored high school students. I wrote my dissertation on Jacksonian American political history and after graduate school worked for three years writing, editing, and publishing several volumes of historical documents and wrote/hosted an historical podcast.

Since 2019, I have worked for a non-profit where I plan, organize, and host academic events for graduate students and professors as well as managing a budget of over $1 million for graduate student research funding awards. I have a keen and time-tested ability to teach and tutor history and related fields: philosophy, political science, political theory, government and politics, and most importantly—writing and public speaking.

Approved Subjects

American History

American History

I have a PhD in American history from Pitt (2016), where I taught for six years. I write and publish articles in American history daily, I have published two books (with three more currently at press), and I am writer/host of a podcast on the subject.
Geography

Geography

Every historian (at least those trained in oceanic history—an Atlanticist like myself, for example!) understands the importance of geography and has a keen interest in learning the subject to some technical degree alongside the historical impact geography exercises. I consider myself in the Braudel, “long duree,” school of historians who simply must consider the long-term impact of geography and geographical change on human affairs.
Government & Politics

Government & Politics

I have earned a PhD in American history, with a focus on political thought and movements.
Public Speaking

Public Speaking

Throughout my time as an undergraduate and a graduate student, I have been constantly practicing my public speaking skills. I have presented research at dozens of academic conferences (including awards for Best Oral Presentation) over the span of eight years, including invitations to deliver guest lectures, brown-bag seminars, and organizing group speaking events. As an undergraduate, I founded and chaired meetings of "Socrates Cafe," an informal philosophy debate and discussion group which honed my own speaking skills and dramatically helped me learn to help others improve their speaking skills. Since beginning graduate school in 2010, I have been teaching college courses including lectures that can last from fifty minutes to three hours, providing me with a breadth of speaking opportunities and a variety of speaking methods.
World History

World History

I am professionally trained in world history and while working on my PhD I specialized in Atlantic history. I have tutored students for this AP exam before and all of them have passed with high scores and gone on to impressive academic achievements.
Writing

Writing

I write on a daily basis on academic subjects from history and political theory to technology and culture. My writing is published to a global audience of tens-of-thousands on a nearly-daily basis and I regularly write for public speaking, including my Liberty Chronicles Podcast. I also have a ten year old son with autism whose main struggles include difficulty reading, writing, and verbally expressing himself.
