I'm Alex! I graduated from Stuyvesant High School and am currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. Throughout my time at High School, I did over +100 hours of tutoring: from mini-classes of middle schoolers in topics in Science, English and Math to 1-on-1 tutoring for my peers in school or afterschool office hours.

I have a ton of experience with explaining all the STEM Subjects such as Chemistry, Physics and Biology. I scored 5s on AP Chem, AP Biology and AP Physics Mechanics and E&M as well as multiple other social studies AP Exams. Moreover, I have also taken both the ACT and SATs and scored in the 99th percentile in both Math and Reading.

I think a personalized learning environment is best for students. First, I identify what each student is struggling with in the subject. I go through the specific topics and make sure I can break it down and explain it myself using different examples. Sometimes students in a class have varying skill levels on a topic: I try to juggle that and make sure everyone is spending their time in class effectively and learning something new. This includes keeping track of what they learn and what they’re struggling on. At the end of the day, I also want to make sure they understand “how to study”: which I believe is a very beneficial skill decades down the line.

I wish to see the students I help succeed and improve over time, and I will do anything I can to do so.
