Hey there! My name is Raye and I am a graduate of technical theatre with a focus on lighting design and stage management, however, I have a lifelong passion for math. Hey there! My name is Raye and I am a graduate of technical theatre with a focus on lighting design and stage management, however, I have a lifelong passion for math. Since first grade, I have been helping fellow students and friend's siblings with their homework and understanding concepts purely for the joy of it. Then from 2018-2020, I worked as a substitute teacher for K-12 where I was able to rekindle my love of helping kids enjoy learning. I have a very practical method of teaching, which I use when helping my 8-year-old daughter, in which I prefer to explain through demonstration and then have the student work through the problem while I offer assistance.
In addition to my love of math, I was trained in piano for 8 years growing up and still play. I was able to teach my daughter how to read music and play the recorder and she is starting to learn piano now as well. I also love crafts, specifically knitting, cross-stitching, and sewing, and would love to share my knowledge.
Personality-wise I consider myself to be very laid-back and easy-going. I enjoy getting to know people and finding out the best way to communicate with each person individually. I crack jokes but I also can be focused when needed. Overall I think learning should be a fun, lifelong endeavor and I want to help kids see that too. Thanks for taking the time to read through!
