Hi, my name is Alex! I graduated from the University of Maryland with my PhD in biochemistry in the Spring of 2022 and before that I attended Arizona State University and earned a BS in biochemistry there as well. Hi, my name is Alex! I graduated from the University of Maryland with my PhD in biochemistry in the Spring of 2022 and before that I attended Arizona State University and earned a BS in biochemistry there as well. I am currently working as a researcher but I have found that I miss the experience of being able to help students understand subjects I am passionate about! I love learning new things—and to be able to help someone else do the same is very rewarding.
I have several years of experience in tutoring or classroom instruction in math, biology, chemistry (general and organic), and biochemistry. I have worked in a tutoring center, as a private tutor, and, during my time in graduate school, as a teaching assistant. Throughout these experiences, I have been able to explore many different approaches in my tutoring and can therefore adapt my instruction to each individual student depending on their preferences and goals. Whether that means teaching a topic outright, working through practice problems, preparing for exams, or focusing on areas of difficulty, I'd love to help you catch up, ace your next test, or get ahead in your learning!
Generally, I would describe my tutoring style as adaptable and encouraging and I aim to foster self-confidence and critical thinking in all of my students. I offer tutoring to students of all ages in math, in addition to tutoring in biological and chemical sciences for high school and college students. My specialties are algebra I & II, general chemistry (high school and college), organic chemistry, and biochemistry. I do my best to be as responsive as possible and would love to hear from you to answer any questions or to schedule a session!
