Hello! I'm Gerald, a master’s-prepared nurse educator with more than fifteen years of experience teaching at the RN level in a community college setting. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the University of Michigan and my Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Johns Hopkins University. Throughout my career, I have been passionate about using interactive and creative teaching strategies that nursing students embrace—methods that make mastering essential nursing content engaging, memorable, and directly applicable to both exams and clinical practice.
I believe that passing nursing exams is not only about what you learn in school—it’s about how you think. By combining expert critical thinking strategies with targeted practice, I help students learn how to think like a nurse, enabling them to approach exam questions with confidence and clinical scenarios with clarity.
My approach is active, collaborative, and results-focused. Students come to sessions prepared with questions about challenging concepts, which we address before applying the knowledge through practice questions. I guide students in breaking down each question to understand exactly what is being asked, then analyze why each answer option is correct or incorrect. This process not only builds mastery but also sharpens the decision-making skills vital in nursing practice. Each lesson ends with a focused recap and a written plan for the next session to ensure consistent progress.
Beyond exam preparation, I emphasize critical concepts that nurses need to excel in diverse clinical settings. My specialties include Fundamentals and Medical-Surgical Nursing, and my goal is to prepare students for both academic success and long-term professional excellence.
