I am licensed as a Special Educator Director, Assistant Principal, and Principal and hold teaching licenses in Elementary Education, Special Education for Moderate Disabilities K-12, and Mathematics grades 1- 12. I am also certified in Sheltered English Immersion and am Montessori Trained. I'm currently a Vice Principal at a grade 6 - 12 school where I support students with executive functioning and college counseling.

Prior to moving to administration, I taught secondary mathematics (grades 7 - 12) and special education classes. I also served as a K - 5 District Math Coordinator and worked as a literacy teacher. I've tutored students professionally in grades K- college level. My tutoring experience includes many subject areas: reading, writing, math, and study skills for grades K-12, including MCAS readiness. I have been offering SAT and GED prep, as well as MTEL support for aspiring teachers. I have helped several students with their college admissions essays, activities resumes, and scholarship applications.

My tutoring services include homework support, re-teaching concepts, study skills, individualized lesson plans, and suggestions for at-home strategies. When working with students, I combine discussion and practice with visuals and real-life connections. In graduate school, I completed research projects that analyzed best teaching practices and looked specifically at how students learn.

I provide in-person tutoring for local students and offer on-line tutoring via email, zoom, and Wyzant's Online Tutoring Forum for students who live outside of my travel radius. This allows me to support families who live long distance but need short-term immediate support, and who are looking for a less expensive option for tutoring. My rates for on-line tutoring are significantly lower than my in-person rates.

I look forward to working with your families!

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

LeighAnne taught me to understand some more of the content in "!9 Minutes", a book by Jodi Picoult. Like other Reading tutors, LeighAnne knows how to pronounce certain words that I don't know how to pronounce. She is very helpful and knowledgeable.

Super tutor!!

LeighAnne has done a tremendous job improving my son's math skills. His grade increased instantly. I tried a few other options to improve Cam's skills and they did not work. My only regret is not going to her sooner.

LeighAnne clearly is familiar with today's common core curriculum

We are very impressed and pleased with LeighAnne's ability to quickly understand the needs of our child and design a program to address those needs in an efficient manner. LeighAnne's present involvement as a teacher in a middle school was exactly the type of perspective required in today's challenging academic arena where the common core is the focus of all schools.
