My name is Maria! I am an English and Writing Tutor, with experience in high school and college essay writing, and high school and college ELA and English Literature. I am an alumna of Providence College (2015), receiving my undergraduate degree in English Literature and Creative Writing. While in college, I participated in two independent studies and a capstone with two New York Times Bestselling Authors, who mentored me in fiction writing.

Currently, I am the Director of Development for a nonprofit in Boston. In this role, I compose over 200 grants a year and write content for our marketing and communications. Through Wyzant, I hope to work with young people to support them in gaining more confidence in their writing ability, share knowledge that I have gained from my studies and career, and help them fall in love with literature and writing like I did!

My experience at Providence College and my current role as Director of Development has supported me in becoming a strong writer, both in creative writing and technical writing, and analyze literature/text with a more critical and problem solving lens. I believe that my experiences have helped me to understand what is needed to write well-done essays and have a better grasp on vocabulary and grammar. I have had the pleasure of tutoring/teaching students in reading and writing, and I work to get to know my students and their individual needs, and work collaboratively to meet their needs.
