Hi! Nice to meet you! I'm Ryan. I have bachelor's and master's degrees in mathematics and 11 years of experience working as a professional software developer. In school, I admired the charismatic and enthusiastic teachers I had the pleasure of learning from. I channeled their style into my time tutoring, teaching, and mentoring.

My tutoring, teaching, and mentoring experience includes 3 years of one-on-one tutoring undergraduates in their math courses at my undergrad math center, one semester of teaching undergraduate precalculus and holding group office hours, one semester of TA work in grad school grading for undergraduate math majors, and 5 years as a software engineering manager mentoring newer team members and interns on skills like programming in C, C++, MATLAB, and JavaScript as well as on general software engineering principles. During my work, I also created and presented training material to new team members teaching them how to successfully contribute to our product.

Tutoring sessions with me focus on helping you understand the fundamentals of the topics in question and then how to generalize that knowledge to navigate the space on your own. My goal is to help you see the bigger picture and how you can apply your knowledge to new circumstances independently in the future beyond focusing on the specific challenge at hand. Depending on where things stand, I may present a lesson on the fundamentals of your current topic or have you lead the discussion based on where you currently are and focus on specific items. We'll work to generalize your knowledge from there.
