I am currently a junior at James Madison University majoring in Health Services Administration with double minors in Human Resources and Legal Studies. My academic background has strengthened my skills in communication, organization, and problem solving, which directly influence how I tutor students. Through my coursework and applied experiences, I have learned how to explain complex material clearly and adapt my approach to fit different learning styles. I prioritize preparation and consistency in every session so students feel supported, capable, and confident in their abilities.
I have several years of experience working with students across a wide range of ages, abilities, and learning environments. I currently serve as a teaching assistant for an introductory university-level health course, where I help students review content, prepare for exams, and develop effective study strategies. In addition, I mentor middle and high school students through the Valley Scholars Program, providing academic support, goal setting guidance, and confidence-building in both one-on-one and small group settings. I have also provided private tutoring both virtually and in person, including working with children who have learning disabilities. These experiences have strengthened my patience, flexibility, and ability to adjust instruction to meet each student’s individual needs.
My tutoring approach is supportive, structured, and highly individualized. I focus on breaking material into manageable steps, reinforcing understanding through examples, and helping students learn how to think through problems independently rather than relying on memorization. I emphasize building confidence, organization, and long-term academic skills alongside subject mastery. My goal is to create a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and taking ownership of their learning.
