Qualifications for “cpa”

As a practicing CPA and as an "A" student over the course of my lifetime, I have discovered the most efficient and effective ways to learn subject matter and how to score well on examinations. It's not always a matter of struggling to read every word in a textbook that gets you the knowledge you need, or the "A" grade. Just like real life, it's often a matter of knowing what is required of you, and addressing those areas first and foremost.

Too often, students "spin their wheels" on areas from which they will not maximally benefit. They get frustrated going around and around in circles, not understanding something. They lose their confidence, say negative things to themselves, and give up. My approach is to rebuild a student's confidence and enthusiasm for learning so that he/she will be able carry on after the tutoring is finished.

Learning English for ESL/ESOL students is about developing the necessary written and communication skills to be able to function effectively in daily life in an English-speaking society. Conversational and pronunciation skills are critical for students so that they can converse with and understand others at department stores, at the doctor's office, at the auto repair shop, etc. In addition, it is important that non-native speakers be able to speak or write down the appropriate information about themselves when required(e.g.names,addresses,dates,etc.when filling out forms) And too, ESL/ESOL students must become familiar with the often confusing idioms and colloquialisms of native English speakers. I have helped former non-native speakers of English become more adept at speaking and communicating in English, and thus, I believe, happier. I am a native English speaker, and a personable teacher. I have a sense of humor, and I love helping others to learn. You'll probably pick up my Boston accent!

Test Preparation

COOP/HSPT,

COOP/HSPT

The Cooperative Admissions Exam (COOP) and the High School Placement Test (HSPT) are entrance exams for admission to Catholic high schools. The COOP consists of seven sections which test a student's verbal reasoning, reading, and language arts skills, as well as math skills. The HSPT is divided into five sections, and it also tests verbal and math skills. I am currently successfully tutoring students for WyzAnt in these subject areas.
ISEE,

ISEE

The Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE), geared towards elementary school students, tests reading comprehension and math, as well as verbal and quantitative reasoning skills. The essay is not scored, and is sent only to the schools requested by the students. The purpose of the exam is to provide schools with information about the students' strengths and weaknesses in math and English, and to assess their capacities for learning academic subjects. I have previously tutored students in the lower, middle, and upper grades to achieve success in this exam.
Praxis,

Praxis

Praxis I,PPST (Pre-Professional Skills Test) evaluates individuals for entry into teacher education programs and may also be required by some states as part of their teacher licensing process. Praxis I consists of three parts: Reading, Mathematics, and Writing. Praxis II, PLT (Principles of Learning and Teaching) consists of elementary education tests and subject assessments in Science, English, Mathematics, and Social Studies for those prospective K-12 teachers of these subjects. I have successfully tutored prior students in Reading, Mathematics, and Writing. Thus, I am quite comfortable tutoring Praxis I and the English and Math sections of Praxis II.
TEAS,

TEAS

The TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) exam is a requirement by certain schools for admission into their nursing programs. The TEAS exam consists of four sections: Reading, Mathematics, Science, and English and Language Usage. I have successfully tutored prior students in all of these subject areas.

Excellent tutor! Look no further.

Marion was the best. She understood my thought processes and helped me learn where to improve my decision making when it came to difficult problems. She taught me how to determine how to tackle a problem the correct way, but also the easiest way. She was patient, outgoing and most of all, there was no problem she couldn't explain to me and succeed in making me understand how to solve it. Marion was excellent. I wish I had her for a professor in college.

An Excellent Tutor

Marion tutored our 4th grade son for the ISEE exam. We had just under two months to prepare for what is a very demanding test for his age. Marion patiently worked through the problems with our son, and was able to explain the topics in a way that was both comprehensible and engaging. Our son actually said he enjoyed these tutoring sessions. Compared to the initial assessment, our son’s final test scores clearly improved (by several stanines). Marion also helped our 9th grade daughter to prepare effective strategies to optimize her ISEE outcome. She achieved top scores (nines) in several subjects. As parents, we found that coordinating everything with Marion was very easy. Most importantly, Marion was highly effective at tutoring both our children. We have also considered continuing to use Marion’s help with our son now that ISEE exam is over. Simply put, Marion is an excellent tutor. We are happy to strongly recommend her.

Very nice

We switched from a local tutor because our daughter just wasn't connecting and glad we did. You could tell Marion connected with her and she was smiling after the first hour and a half. Hopefully she will be able to help our daughter gain some points on the SAT.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor.

Marion work very patiently with our daughter to prepare her for the ISEE test. She was able to explain things in a way a 12 year old will understand. She is knowledgeable and I cannot stress enough how patient she is.

Prompt and patient

Worked great with my 10 year old reviewing for the ISEE. Somehow got him to sit still and be attentive for 2 hours - with no complaints from him! Plan on using her on a weekly basis and I’m sure will be worth every penny!

Excellent tutor

Marion is an excellent tutor, I was very afraid to take the GRE because I had not taken math since I was about 16 years old and I am now 33. She is doing an amazing job of making me feel comfortable with the material especially the math just like I was still in school learning it today! Thanks so much Marion!

Accommodating Tutor

Michel was very happy with Marion. He felt comfortable and excited that he was learning with her. She was attentive and kept me, his principal informed as to their progress.

The best and Excellent tutor

I couldn't know how to describe the way as she taught me, although my English is poor she figured out how to teach me every single lesson like math which was one of the most important for me. she was so patient and comprehensive. My opinion is if someone is capable to teach math to somebody whose English is her/his second language. That person is capable to teach anyone. I got 84 on my ASVAB test, my higher one was on math, and every thing was thanks to Marion. EXCELLENT TUTORRR.
