I am a certified, experienced English/humanities teacher who has taught in some of the top school districts in the metrowest area. I also have experience coaching students on standardized tests including SAT, ACT, ISEE, SSAT, GRE, and LSAT exams. I have worked with a broad range of learners, including everything from struggling readers to gifted students. While one of my biggest success stories during my teaching internship involved a senior who read at the third grade level, I have had comparable success helping top students prepare for competitive universities. One of my biggest assets as tutor is my ability to personalize my instruction to match each student's individual needs, thus I am able to personalize all of my explanations and feedback. I am a very creative, persistent person, and I earned my masters degree at one of the top teaching programs in the country. So, I have a broad range of tools and experience to draw from in my tutoring.

I have a friendly, cheerful demeanor which helps me connect with students. But, at the same time I know how to challenge and inspire them to overcome obstacles and tackle new goals. Here, my experience coaching sailing and gymnastics informs my tutoring because in these setting students often have to overcome fears and adapt to new environments. I also draw my experience in residence life which has enriched my communication skills. I take a proactive, optimistic approach to problem solving which has helped me maintain healthy relationships throughout twelve-fifteen hour shifts. Outside of teaching, I am an avid sports fan! I am also extremely active in community theater. Please feel free to contact me, so we can discuss how my services might support your individual needs.
