Hello my name is Jonathan and I am a Motivated Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) tutor seeking a part time tutoring position. Graduated from the University of Massachusetts Lowell majoring in chemical engineering. Currently pursuing an engineering leadership certificate and a master’s degree in chemical engineering from Northeastern University.

I Specialize tutoring in chemistry and mathematics courses from elementary school to college. Typically, I help students with their homework, classwork problems, and quizzes/exams. I help develop student’s problem-solving technique by understanding how they perceive and approach the problem. After observing how the students interpret the problem, I recommend a technique to help the students to understand the scope and approach of the problem and eventually guide them to becoming proficient problem solvers.

Eventually once the students feel comfortable with the subject, I will either give them a quiz or have them work on their assignment and explain to me how to solve the problem so I can determine how knowledgeable they on the subject. Based on my previous and current experiences as a student, engineer, and tutor, I am confident in tutoring students from the elementary to the college level in STEM.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

Took Algebra 1 freshman year of high school; one of my favorite courses. In Algebra one, you have solve for the unknown variable in the equation. For example 80= 5x +20, where x would equal 12.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

Took algebra 2 junior year of high school. Algebra 2 is more advanced than algebra 1, but the problems are still similar.
Geometry

Geometry

Taken geometry in my sophomore year of high school. In geometry, use the given information to solve the unknown variable (area, angle, and length) of given the shape.
Physics

Physics

Taken physics in both freshman year of high school and college. Physics is the science that is based on mathematics and a little memorization. Have to know certain laws like Newton's law for example. Determine formula (s) required to solve the problem.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

Took prealgebra in middle. Prealgebra is just learning the proper problem solving technique before getting into algebra 1 & 2. For example, 20= 10-5 + x.
Precalculus

Precalculus

Taken precalculus a little in high school and calculus I freshman year of college. In precalculus, you solve problems by using derivatives. Also determine the domain, range, and asymptotes.
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

Have taken Trigonometry in my senior year of high school. In trigonometry requires you need to know how to interpret graph and finding the limits on the graphs.
