Hi, I'm Claire! I'm a passionate educator with a Bachelor's degree in Urban Studies from Columbia University, where I graduated Cum Laude, and a Master's of Science in Geographic Information Science from Clark University. For the past three years, I have taught in a variety of capacities and have always enjoyed both teaching and learning.
In college, my focus was on GIS and using visual methods to express complex ideas and histories. I love tinkering with any GIS mapping applications and sharing my passion and knowledge with students.
I'm an avid reader and writer - both creative writing and essay writing. In high school, I got perfect scores on the SAT writing and reading sections. I was also awarded the poetry prize! Additionally, I received 5s on the AP Literature, French, and Calculus AB exams.
I have extensive experience in curriculum design, having served as the educational director of a summer camp. During this time, I developed and implemented a comprehensive curriculum that catered to different learning styles using creative and engaging teaching methods. Additionally, I have spent the year working as a 7th grade teacher at a Sunday school where I teach Jewish history.
My goal is to help students develop their skills in a way that is meaningful and relevant to their lives. I am committed to creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable to ask questions, take risks, and explore their own learning. My approach in tutoring lessons is to introduce the material in an engaging manner before providing methodical explanations that allow the student to practice and work through confusion in real-time. I am open to any feedback and always willing to incorporate suggestions from students and guardians.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me. Feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a lesson!
