Phenomenal tutor! A lifesaver! (Six 5s on AP exams)

I have two sons, who have always been schooled online, and are used to independent study and are high achievers, having straight As in all honors and AP courses. As seniors, they took “AP Physics C: Mechanics” and “AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism” via UC Scout since their school did not offer them, along with concurrent enrollment in AP Calculus BC via their school (Sep ‘23). UC Scout’s course provided very limited information, examples, and assignments, and expected students to read a University Physics text with no clarification of what sections/topics would be relevant to AP Physics C. Furthermore, the UC Scout physics teacher seemed to be part-time and unable to help and could only give answers to specific problems, and could not explain any concepts or areas of confusion. On top of this, we were traveling internationally through the end of ‘23, leaving the boys in a bind by Jan as they had made no progress, and were at risk of failing their classes. Our first attempt was a tutor on Outschool, however, their setup is more for kids who need homework help with specific questions/problems. We then tried Varsity Tutors, which was shockingly inadequate - had questionable and unverifiable qualifications. Finally, we found Ahmet on Wyzant, and it was immediately apparent that he was unlike all the other tutors. He came prepared to teach physics and had an entire setup specifically for online tutoring. From the first session, his love of physics and teaching were apparent (his animation and demeanor). Unlike the other tutors, he was able to teach physics from scratch, starting with the basics and progressing through the curriculum in a linear, understandable fashion. In each lesson, Ahmet would pick out relevant topics of the textbook, simplify them, give “tips and tricks” for understanding concepts in an intuitive way, explain any mathematical prerequisites that they had not studied, and address any questions or topics they brought up. His teaching was characterized by patience in the face of many questions and a keen focus on the boys that allowed him to pick out when they were confused or needed clarification, even before they vocalized it. Ahmet also provided ample practice material and study resources, which were crucial since physics is fundamentally a mathematical science which involves much practice. With Ahmet’s help, they finished Mechanics in March after having started with him in February (a mere one month for a six-month course) and then started and finished E&M in the same month. In addition, Ahmet provided as-needed tutoring for Calculus BC to ensure that they had a thorough understanding of the subject. Both boys finished up their course with A’s in both subjects! The boys spent the next few weeks practicing topics and problems (both Calc and Physics) with Ahmet in preparation for the AP exams. They each received a 5 in Mechanics, 5 in E&M, and 5 in Calculus BC. They couldn’t have done it without Ahmet’s help!

With the AP Physics exam barely 2 days away, my son Jayanth felt he needed help clearing up some concepts. He needed someone who can work with him in short notice and with very short lead up time. Intensive and confidence-boosting AP Physics C test review

My high schooler's AP Physics C teacher is knowledgeable but cannot impart said knowledge, which has led to a frustrating experience. Ahmet was able to explain away all points of confusion before a big test. He utilized the session to the max, went over every step in each problem set, developed the solving strategies behind them, extrapolated to similar problems and suggested material for further review. Since this was a last-minute test prep session, it was fast-paced and intensive. My child felt it was a excellent use of their limited time before the test!

Amazing AP Physics C Tutor!

I was taking AP Physics C for one semester in my senior year. I managed on my own, learning the material and studying for the initial units. However, as the course got harder towards the end of the semester without proper support from my teacher, I had dropped to a b grade. I had only two units to pull myself back to an A, and I started meeting with Ahmet towards the end of the second to last unit, but that didn't matter. He quickly picked up on what I did and didn't understand, as well as my learning style and habits. He adapted his teaching in a way I perfectly understood, and I got an A on the final test for that unit. For the last unit, he taught me everything before my teacher even introduced the topics, and I was well-prepared for every graded assignment. I ended the course with an A, which wouldn't have been possible without Ahmet's help. He is patient and friendly, and he knows the Physics C curriculum inside and out. I highly recommend him, especially if you are looking for quick help and quick results!

Mr. Ahmet taught me AP Physics 1. I got a 5 on the exam. The best part about Mr. Ahmet was that he explained things simplified at first to help grasp the concept, then explained the reasoning behind principles using logic and analogies.
