Hi I'm Lexi and I tutor Unity (2D and 3D), C#, Java, game design, game development, and can guide students using ChatGPT, Grok, Meta AI and other AI tools / platforms to program. Ranked in the top 10% of Wyzant tutors for 2020 I started tutoring back in 2007. Outside of tutoring I build, play and prototype indie games.

I attended Tufts University and majored in computer science. My programming style is careful with lots of testing, this keeps things clean and efficient! When I tutor I try to see the problem from your point of view, with only the knowledge you have, and then adapt my instruction to fill in the gaps. I love helping people. I have collaborated on the programming for 2 released games with my students: Pinku's Chibi Dressroom (for Android) and Surge - Multiplayer by RenSoftware (for iPhone). It was truly amazing to watch these students learn and grow over the months of development and cross the finish line to actually release a game!

Programming can lead to lots of setbacks but I truly believe that 99% of all problems can be solved or at least circumvented. I also believe that increasing one's own knowledge of a problem or situation is almost always the right approach. In the end, the only thing in the entire universe with no weakness is knowledge itself. As for my own foundational knowledge, I completed my computer science major in just 3.5 semesters but also took the time to become a curricular teaching assistant. No matter what you want to learn, I'll be there with you, every step of the way. I accept students and clients of all genders, colors, shapes, orientations, and beliefs. Pair programming is the single best way to learn computer science. My BS in Computer Science focused heavily on pair programming and almost all of the 5 months of computer science tutoring sessions I have given over the last few years were pair programming sessions. I have tutored high school, undergrad, and recent grads in C, C++, C#, Java, Objective C, Python, Scheme, ML, and some languages you've probably never heard of. I spent 3 months designing an intro to computer science class for college freshman with my academic advisor, and then went on to program professionally for 2 years. Whatever program you want to write I'm here to help you get that code up and running. Every program and every student is different so I'm all about focusing in on what concepts and code matter most to you. I'll make sure you have a running, bug-free program you completely understand, by the end of every session.

Java is one of my favorite programming languages because it higher level than C but very similar to C#. I have 5 years of experience in C# and much of my experience in C# carries over to Java. I also love how many Java libraries are available to the every day programmer.

I have been working in Unity for 5 years now both on Wyzant and outside of tutoring developing a variety of games and projects across all domains. I can help with complex scripting, UI, animation, audio, shaders, 2d/3d, single/multiplayer across almost any game genre from platformers, RPGs, racing, sim, survival, combat, horror, puzzle and more. I can also guide students using generative AI tools like chatGPT to develop their game/project and help students sit in the drivers seat, not the passengers seat, while developing.

Knows UNITY well. And is very flexible in setting up a long-term class for the student, going outside the box when appropriate, discussing overall game theory and techniques as well as the mechanics and tricks of the UNITY engine.

Lexi is a phenomenal tutor; she is just wonderful! My 11-year-old son wanted to learn how to start making games. He had 0 prior programming experience. Since they have been working together, she has led him though creating his very first 2D game. After every lesson he is very excited to show us what he has accomplished. He's shown this game to his friends at school, and they all want to participate in some way when he makes his next game. He has started to think through some of the problems programming presents on his own; his problem solving, and his creativity have been challenged in a wonderful way all thanks to Lexi.
