Music education is my passion. As a professional educator for over 10 years I have had the pleasure of working with hundreds of students. My ability to relate to students, reach them on a personal level and develop strong connections has allowed me to be effective in instilling my own passion for music in my students.

My ability to relate to students, reach them on a personal level and develop strong connections has allowed me to be effective in instilling my own passion for music in my students.
My goal in teaching music is much more than simply being able to play an instrument, sing or compose. Instead I want my students to know why music works the way it does. I believe answering this question allows students to more fully explore their own creative potential.
In my approach to teaching I make it a priority to not only have my students be proficient in the language of music but also to create lifelong lovers of the art. However, the most important thing is for my students to have fun! I want my students to love music and I often use humor as a way to instill this love.
I am not only a music educator but also a professional working musician. With this comes 20 years of real world experience. I have performed throughout the U.S. and Europe and have recorded on over 20 albums. Both my undergraduate (Berklee College of Music) and graduate (University of Florida) degrees are in music eduction. I have experience in teaching instrumental music, music theory, composition and song writing. I am also a member of NAfME as well as MMEA.
