Bio

I have been a full time High School science teacher since 2009 with DESE issued licenses of grade 8-12 Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Currently, I am searching for college and high school teaching positions and industry positions in Chemistry and Physical Science. Tutoring is my most enjoyable activity outside my regular work. While I was teaching high school sciences, I ran after school computer and technology club and other activities related to "food science" and "medicinal chemistry"....

Currently, I am searching for college and high school teaching positions and industry positions in Chemistry and Physical Science. Tutoring is my most enjoyable activity outside my regular work. While I was teaching high school sciences, I ran after school computer and technology club and other activities related to "food science" and "medicinal chemistry". Prior, I have taught AP and Honor Chemistry, IB Science, CP Chemistry, Physics and CP Biology in districts with diverse student body. Currently I hold initial licenses to teach Biology, Chemistry and Physics (8-12) in Massachusetts. I keep up my learning and continue learning online and taking classes. Having worked with students in urban school district and privileged ones, as well as trained academically for many years, I am confident and excited to help my Wzyant students in many subject areas including, but not limited to, sciences, math and most high school subjects, SAT, SAT2, ACT, and test prep like, GRE, MCAT, ISEE etc ...

I am a native of Hong Kong from where I have earned my B.Sc. (major in Chemistry and minor in Marketing) and M.Phil. degree in Organometallic Chemistry at the Chinese University of Hong Kong before I came to US in the late 80's. I earned my PhD degree from the Physical Science Division of the University of Chicago on 1993, working with highly-strained, cage-shaped, non-natural products, specifically the cubane and cubylcarbinyl systems. I determined the fastest rearrangement rate of any aliphatic hydrocarbon radical at the time. My graduate research there also involved the attempted alternative route for the synthesis of pentaprismane and mechanistic study of an novel ring system. I use many romanization methods; pinyin, Jyutping, Cantonese, strokes... to write Chinese in electronic devices to communicate, teach and work. I have taught Mandarin occasionally before. I have many years' experience of Chinese-English translation and Interpretation.

As a strong exam taker myself, I help my tutoring students to employ many skills and strategies when they are taking important test, preparing for college and graduate studies.

Great tutor. he knows his stuff and knows how to make it less intimidating.

Jonathan was prompt, professional and demonstrated a true interest in making sure my son was understanding everything that was being reviewed. He was patient and I could tell my son felt immediately comfortable asking questions. As a parent, the "ah-ha" moments, where I knew things that had not clicked previously with my son, but were now making sense, were wonderful to observe. Great Explainer and Really Affordable!

Jonathan was a great Chemistry Tutor. He was very patient and willing to meet almost any time or any place. When I wouldn't understand something, he would explain it in a different way until I understood. Without his help, I wouldn't have been able to succeed in AP Chemistry. He was very affordable too. Off to a great start!
