Although I have taken a fews years off from tutoring, I tutored high school and middle school math extensively a few years ago, both formally, through a tutoring program, and informally, at my school. The formal tutoring was math and reading for elementary and middle school students needing help on homework, and the informal tutoring was students struggling with calculus in high school. I am good at picking up on what students find confusing and teaching from the ground up, ensuring conceptual understanding rather than memorizing equations. I am patient and responsive as a tutor, and can navigate the frustrations that students often feel when struggling with new concepts.
I have signed up to tutor math because it has always been one of my strongest subjects and I am comfortable tutoring. I received a 780 on the SAT math sections and a 5 on the AP Calculus BC exam. I have studied linear algebra and multivariable calculus in college, and remain comfortable with both high level and foundational math skills. My current job requires a lot of data processing and analysis, which continues to strengthen my statistics skills and comfortability with numbers.
