Hi! :)
I am Ashleigh, a sophomore at Harvard University cross-registered at MIT who loves teaching math, specifically tips and tricks to acing standardized tests. Coming from a small Texas town of under 600 people with a graduating class of 12, I earned my Associate Degree before becoming the first from my hometown to attend Harvard. My math journey began early as I completed my high school’s mathematics curriculum by my junior year and regularly filled in to teach the class when my teacher was away. I became a seven-time UIL and TMSCA Texas State Champion in Mathematics and Calculator Applications, breaking records and nearly doubling second-place scores, led my team to its first state title, and scored multiple perfect 36s on ACT Math.
For over eight years (since I was 11), I have tutored learners of all ages across diverse settings: one-on-one private tutoring for elementary through high school students; a teaching assistant in elementary & special needs classrooms; mentored peers & incoming college students. Having taught subjects ranging from foundational algebra and high school calculus to high-stakes standardized tests, my primary expertise is helping students master the ACT Math section through proven competitive strategies.
My teaching approach is tailored to each student, testing their knowledge through practice problems, and building weak areas by observing the way they work and offering different ways of approaching problems. I use tricks from math competitions to teach students logical shortcuts and speed tricks I engineered to bypass time-consuming steps and maximize test scores. Finally, I wrap up each session by sending a summary email covering what we learned, progress, and next steps.
