I have taught and tutored for three years in deep reading, academic writing, and college and graduate school personal statements. I work primarily with college studentsa and advanced high school students. I look forward to helping you succeed at your test or perfect your essay while developing your reading, writing, and critical thinking skills.
I love writing, and have written and edited innumerable academic papers and application essays. I provide structure, consultation, and direction at different stages of the writing process. Students in my classes and private clients have various levels of preparation, and I combine high standards with an individual approach to each student. During the first session with a student, I ask about the assignment prompt and the steps a student has already taken, but also about the student’s personal goals for the assignment and his or her learning process in general. Whether the goal is to wow a professor with technical mastery, to publish a piece in a journal, to study for a test, or to participate in a course of academic enrichment, my tutoring will focus on adapting a piece to a suitable format and audience.
I have taught three writing-intensive courses as a Harvard graduate student and I worked for two years at the Tulane University Academic Learning and Tutoring Center as an undergraduate supplemental instructor and student manager. I have also tutored privately in writing and English, and have helped friends with college and graduate school applications. I myself have a track record of successful applications. I was accepted to six top choice graduate schools including Harvard, Yale, and Stanford, and have won major national fellowships including the U.S Fulbright Student Grant, the Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Award, and the U.S. Fulbright Scholar grant. I look forward to helping others grow as scholars, improve their assignments, and achieve their admissions dreams.
