I'm Vivian! I am a recent PhD graduate from Harvard University. My research focused on gene editing of adult stem cell populations within the bone marrow and muscle systems. Although graduate school was very challenging it pushed me to developed skills in experimental design, scientific paper reading, and project and time management.
As for tutoring experience, I began tutoring in undergrad, where I worked in a tutoring center that focus on STEM education. I gained experience one-one tutoring in biology and chemistry during this time. I also ran a small group tutoring sessions (1 vs 6-8 students) that focused on material in general chemistry or organic chemistry and met throughout the semester. This early tutoring experiences exposed me to teaching techniques early on in my academic career.
During graduate school I gained experience TA'ing both undergraduate and graduate level biology courses, in both lab and classroom settings. My most recent experiences include teaching a section for a developmental and stem cell biology course at Harvard University. In this role I held section weekly to cover material, graded and developed exam questions for the course. Throughout my time teaching I have come across students with many different learning styles and I have learned how to tailor my tutoring style to meet a students needs.
Consistent feedback I've received throughout my time tutoring is that I am patient and adaptable. Please reach out if you are in need of a tutor!!
