Hi, I'm Marc - a math and statistics tutor with a PhD in Mathematics and a degree in Psychology. I work with students at every level, from elementary and middle school math through high school algebra and calculus, and all the way up to advanced undergraduate topics (including analysis). Hi, I'm Marc - a math and statistics tutor with a PhD in Mathematics and a degree in Psychology. I work with students at every level, from elementary and middle school math through high school algebra and calculus, and all the way up to advanced undergraduate topics (including analysis). The same is true in statistics: I tutor everything from introductory statistics for high school students and psychology majors to much more advanced statistics courses.
Over the years, I've learned that doing well in math and stats isn't just about intelligence - it's about the right approach explanations, and support. My style is friendly, clear, and down to earth. I aim to make the subject feel alive for students by helping them understand the why behind what they're doing, not just the steps to follow.
I also see myself as a coach, not only a tutor. A big part of my work is helping students learn how to learn: how to break down unfamiliar problems, how to study efficiently, how to organize their time, and how to recover when a topic has started to feel overwhelming. In my experience, students don't always end up loving a subject because of the topic itself - they love it because someone finally explained it in a way that made sense.
To make sessions productive and engaging, I often prepare in advance. I'll build short lesson plans to introduce or reinforce key ideas, and I'll select (or create) practice problems that match the student's course, goals, and learning style. Between sessions I can also suggest a simple structure for independent practice- targeted exercises that build skill without wasting time. I'm especially committed to helping students who feel behind or stuck.
My goal is straightforward: to help students become more confident and capable learners through clear, enjoyable communication and a supportive, personal approach. If you'd like to talk about your situation, the course you're taking, or what you want to improve, feel free to reach out - I'm happy to answer questions and see if we're a good
