Hello! My name is Daniel, and I can’t wait to help you meet your math learning goals!

I hold a Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics from WPI (2015) and a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Tufts University (2010). I’ve been teaching and tutoring math for over 15 years across a wide range of settings: middle school classrooms, university courses, tutoring centers, and professional mentoring in industry. At Tufts, my Real Analysis professor showed me what a great math teacher can be—communicating mathematical problem solving in a way that made me passionate about teaching math myself. I try to channel Prof. Quito at every opportunity.

During graduate school, I worked as a teaching assistant for calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, and real analysis. I led recitations and held office hours that were often full, supporting students with very different learning styles and needs. Earlier, I worked as an after-school math teacher at a middle school, and more recently I’ve volunteered tutoring high school algebra and calculus.

I also spent five years in industry at a startup incubator, where I managed and mentored over ten analysts. That experience strengthened my ability to give feedback, set concrete goals, and support long-term growth which are skills that translate directly to effective tutoring.

My teaching philosophy is simple: there is no single explanation that works for every student. My role is to meet you where you are and guide you toward understanding using multiple approaches. Sometimes the immediate goal is finishing tomorrow’s assignment; other times, we focus on building confidence and problem-solving skills. I always begin a tutoring relationship with goal setting. I approach math with patience and humility, and I love helping students achieve their goals. I pride myself on professionalism, clear communication, and responsiveness.
