Hi, my name is Jordan! I graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a BS in Nuclear Science and Engineering. At MIT, I became involved with undergraduate teaching, from mechatronics to radiation biophysics to nuclear engineering to first responder skills. Now, I am an incoming medical student. I'm a jack of multiple trades, but I love empowering learners to take complex material and feel at home playing in it.

I bring a varied, multidisciplinary perspective to each of my tutoring sessions - I am a nuclear engineer and a science researcher - these two sides of me help me translate, communicate, and 'garden' difficult topics into your repertoire. Whether we are polishing your voice in a personal statement or preparing you for a milestone exam, I bring a sense of imagination, attention, can-do attitude, and range. I'm sensitive to test anxiety.

MCAT: I specialize in CARS and CP. I took my MCAT score from 503 to 522 (131/129/130/132) over a 3-month study period, and I share strategies to help you lock in and master these sections of the MCAT. Together, we'll break down passage-based questions to get at the underlying logical flow, practice applying CP content in new and memorable ways, and train confidence under pressure.

NREMT: After earning my NREMT in 2021, I became a CPR and Stop The Bleed Instructor. Since 2020, I have worked as a first responder, both in EMS and Ocean Rescue. To prepare for the NREMT, we review content and run high-fidelity scenarios to develop bombproof clinical reasoning.

Writing: I've revised essays that have gone on to earn acceptances from MIT, several medical schools, and more. We can brainstorm, revise, and polish your writing. I work with *you* so that your voice can shine.

College Counseling

I am passionate about turning your drafts into compelling narratives that showcase your best self, your aspirations, your motives, and your story. I was accepted to MIT, UVA, NC State, GA Tech, and more - and I did it by having a carefully considered list of schools, staying ahead of deadlines, and refining quality essays to reflect the mission of the school. Having a human touch is vital - I have reviewed dozens of admissions essays, helping students get into VA Tech, Eastern Virginia Medical School, Albert Einstein Medical School (and more), and I'm excited to help you clarify your goals and write for success!
EMT/ NREMT

EMT/ NREMT

I have five years of experience volunteering on a 24/7 BLS ambulance service, and six years of experience working as an ocean rescue lifeguard, with one year as a supervisor. I have served as a mentor for trainees, creating and acting out high-fidelity simulated exercises (then providing detailed, constructive feedback), reviewing key prehospital concepts in a lecture-based format, and mentoring rookies in career development as a first responder. I'm passionate about teaching prehospital emergency care, from the psychomotor skills assessed on the NREMT exam, to giving a clear turnover of care report, to inclusivity at the bedside. I hold certifications at the national (NREMT) and state level (MAEMT). I have held CPR Instructor (AHA) and Stop The Bleed Instructor certifications as well, teaching both lay hands-only CPR courses and refreshers for medical professionals.
MCAT

MCAT

I understand that the MCAT is a beast of a test - I raised my score by 19 points over a three month part-time study period by combining spaced repetition, active content review, mindset and strategy planning, mind-palace mnemonics, and more. We will apply these tricks and more to accelerate your mastery and prepare you for test day, alongside a personalized study plan that lets you keep your life and feel ready. I specialize in tutoring PS (100 %ile), CP (99 %ile), CARS (95 %ile), and general test-taking skills. I scored 522 (99th percentile) on the MCAT (Sept 2024). My score distribution is 131/129/130/132.
Personal Statements

Personal Statements

How can you bring your story to life in a way that is memorable, compelling, and authentic -- without sanitizing difficult truths or treating your growth as a transaction? I am passionate about turning your drafts into meaningful narratives that showcase your best self, your aspirations, your motives, and your story. Whether you are writing for the Common App, AMCAS, or a medical school secondary, we will break this daunting task down, together. What, exactly, is the prompt asking? First, we'll define what you want to highlight. We'll step through several drafts, revising each time for voice. Finally, we'll polish. I have advised dozens of personal statements, helping students get in to UVA, Virginia Tech, EVMS, and MIT (grad school).

CARS

Working with Jordon has been so helpful! I had no idea on how I should be approaching this section, but she did! She helped create a strategy that works for me and I’m seeing growth everyday! She’s very kind and supportive! Love working with her!

Samira, 7 lessons with Jordan

great teacher, very nice, patient, and interactive

Jordan is a great tutor. She is friendly and very patient with my son. My son said she explained photosynthesis to him better than his teacher. He feels a lot more confident going into his quiz tomorrow. She also helped him learn ways to memorize and provided test taking strategies.
