Hi, I'm Katharine. I'm a Columbia University alumna, working as an architect. Previously, I have worked in communications, as well as teaching design at the college level as adjunct faculty. My past academic honors include receiving National Merit honors and receiving a perfect score on my verbal SAT. I also bring a strong academic background in foundational STEM math, including single and multivariable calculus and trigonometry.
My past teaching experience has been as adjunct faculty (Fall 2023) teaching design to college-age students, as a teaching assistant (3 years' experience) offering teaching support and office hours tutoring to college-age students in writing, design, and architecture-related structural and building systems math, and as a summer tutor (1 summer) for students with learning disabilities.
My goal as a math tutor is to guide students toward a more comprehensive and thorough understanding of math concepts and problem-solving methods, by working through problems step by step and explaining the underlying concepts. My goal is to build math skills and confidence, to support academic success, and to open up future educational and professional opportunities for students.
My goal as an English and writing tutor is to support students in understanding the underlying grammatical rules that guide writing and editing, to support positive academic outcomes, to optimize testing outcomes, and to develop lifelong communication skills for success in academic and professional life.
