I am a freshman at Harvard University and a recent graduate of the Spence School (4.0 GPA, 1590 SAT). I have experience tutoring math K-12, with three years of formal tutoring experience as the sole student instructor in Spence’s Upper School Math Lab and past employment at Mathnasium. I was specifically asked to tutor for Spence Math Lab due to my advanced coursework: I took Calculus in freshman year, scoring a 5 on the AP Calculus BC. Since, I have studied Multivariable Calculus, Linear Algebra, and Real Analysis.
As a tutor, I push students to derive and internalize concepts rather than memorizing methods. This philosophy positively influences tutees’ performance—to me, there is no greater reward than high-fiving a student after she scores that first ‘A!’ However, I also recognize the repetitive skill-building and speed required for test success. I scored a perfect 800 on SAT Math and competed in math contests throughout high school, qualifying for the American Invitational Mathematics Examination twice, so I know how to optimize problem-solving efficiency.
I would love to work with elementary, middle, and high schoolers. I am especially passionate about equipping young women with STEM ability and confidence.
