When I was applying to college as a senior in high school, I applied to 51 colleges… I know, it’s a lot. But I wanted to have as many options as possible when it came time to pick a school. Going through this process will so many schools enabled me to do a profound amount of research on each school- their mission statements, acceptance rates, type of school, curriculum offered, etc. - and retain a lot of knowledge of this in my head. I love mentoring and being able to guide younger ones along a process I had so much fun with. The college application process doesn’t have to be a super stressful one if you have the right mentor! By serving in this role, I hope to also inform my mentees about what many colleges are looking for in their students specifically, how to identify this information from the college, and most importantly, how to craft your essays so that you fit the perfect description of what the school is looking for.
