Hello! I'm Lucy, a rising junior majoring in economics at Wellesley College with coursework in multivariable calculus, linear algebra, and statistics. As a student myself, I know how challenging it can be to grasp complex material, especially when you feel like you're missing something foundational. That’s why I am so passionate about helping students build a solid foundation so that they can tackle complex questions with ease.
As a tutor, I take a methodical, student-first approach where I ask students to explain their knowledge of the material, ensuring that I tailor my lessons to each individual student. While working on problems, I will guide students to the answer rather than simply giving it to them. This approach gives students a stronger understanding of the fundamentals and the ability to solve problems independently, preparing them for success long after our tutoring session is over.
I've worked in education since I was in eighth grade with students ranging in ages between pre-kindergarten and eighth grade. I was most recently a Lead Instructor at a STEM summer camp where I worked with 10-12 students. I collaborated with students one-on-one to develop their projects, answered questions, and gave students feedback on their work, supporting each student’s individual needs. In my previous position as a teacher's assistant, I assisted students individually as they worked on their projects.
Through my math and economics coursework, I've developed a deep understanding of applied math and mathematical theory. Combined with my experiences as a teacher, this allows me to support students in elementary, middle, and high school. I hope to help you build a solid conceptual understanding, reach your academic goals, and fall in love with math. I always welcome feedback about how I can support your academic success, so please reach out if you have suggestions. Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions or to schedule a lesson. I look forward to working with you!
