Learning or playing music boosts creativity, strengthens the mind, and is a lot of fun!

I'm a Berklee College of Music graduate (Cum Laude in Drum Performance & Electronic Production & Design) with nearly 20 years of teaching experience across all ages. Beyond teaching, I’m an active performer with experience across rock, funk, jazz, hip-hop, blues, live electronica, afrobeat, reggae, and Brazilian styles. I’ve shared the stage with artists like Nona Hendryx, Simon Shaheen, Richard Devine, Cappadonna (Wu-Tang Clan), Jim Belushi, and Juno Reactor, and have performed in 11 countries, with a 12th (Hungary) coming up next month.

I’ve taught at Groton Hill Music Center (formerly Indian Hill), West End House Boys & Girls Club, Boston Public Schools’ Counseling & Intervention Center, Mary Lyon High School, and Somerville Public Schools. I’ve also given music production workshops at international festivals, schools, and conferences, including A3E (Boston), Cosmic Convergence (Guatemala), Istanbul, and Wellington, NZ.

Composition (Music)

Composition (Music)

I graduated from Berklee College of Music cum laude. I received all A's in arranging classes, tonal harmony classes, and several of my electronic compositions were chosen to be presented at the Electronic Production & Design Department-wide workshop with internationally acclaimed producer/composer Richard Devine. In addition, one of my compositions was accepted in a contest for the 2nd Annual Csound Conference in 2013.
Drums

Drums

I majored in Drum Performance at Berklee College of Music. I also actively perform with 3-5 bands throughout the northeast. I have also performed in Mexico, given drum workshops/masterclasses in Istanbul (Turkey), and have performed drums with international acclaimed musicians Nona Hendryx, Simon Shaheen, and Richard Devine.
General Music

General Music

In addition to being a professional/performing drummer, I also have performed many times on piano and have played bass guitar in a few bands. In addition, I was an ensemble teacher at the West End House Boys & Girls Club in Allston, MA. I taught the bands how to work together, rehearse together and perform together. These bands typically involved drums, bass, guitar, piano, singers, percussionists, and more. Additionally I taught general music studies to the kids at the West End House - ages 6-18, for which I got the Outstanding Youth Advocate Award from Berklee College of Music's Community Affairs and Campus Engagement Department. I am passionate about all things music and for this I put dedication and positive encouragement to those who ask for my help in general music studies.
Music History

Music History

Part of the degree program at Berklee is History of Western Music 1 & 2. I am such a music history buff that I did not even have to take the classes - I took the credit by exams for both and passed with flying colors. I love music. I love history. Throughout my academic career, I have succeeded to a high degree at both and especially when combined. Also, part of the drum performance program at Berkelee is taking a class of history of the drumset from 1890s to 1960s. I got an A in this class. During my free time, I often research music history - from West African music to Indian music to Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, Blues, Jazz, Rock, Funk, Electronic and more. I graduated Berklee College of Music cum laude.
Music Production

Music Production

I majored in Electronic Production and Design at Berklee College of Music with high marks in most classes. I have a lot of experience producing and mixing electronic music and have also acted as a recording engineer, with a fundamental background on how to muti-track, record specific instruments (most notably drums but also guitar, bass, piano, etc.), mix, and tools for mastering. In addition, I have worked with/in many bands and understand the skills needed to be successful with producing music as a group unit.
Music Theory

Music Theory

I have about 10 years experience teaching music to people ages 6-adult. I graduated Berklee College of Music with Honors (cum laude). I am a receiver of the Outstanding Youth Advocate Award from the President's Office of Education Outreach (Community Affairs and Campus Engagement) at Berklee College of Music at the annual Urban Service Awards in April 2014. I taught drumming & music theory at Indian Hill Music School in Littleton, MA.

On point, knowledgeable, asks the right questions

In my first lesson with Josh, he took the time to get to know me, my goals and made sure to understand what I wanted to get out of our time together. I'm excited to continue our lessons and to apply all of the new knowledge to my music production.
