About Frank

Hi!

I'm Frank and I am a full time science Tutor and YouTube Educator. Have you ever sat in lecture and feel like you learned almost nothing? Did you know that by sitting in lectures you only retain about 5% of the 1 hour lecture?! In my tutoring sessions I teach you, and then you become the teacher!

I've tutored students in-person and over Skype at 25+ Universities in the U.S, Canada, England, Saudia Arabia, and Australia. I absolutely love tutoring and my goal is to help bridge the knowledge gap between college professors and students. In every one of my tutoring sessions I try to show my students how fun, simple, and fascinating Organic Chemistry can be. And I hope to help students reach their full potential through tutoring.

The knowledge gap that I referred to is what I believe is the cause of so many students struggling with Organic Chemistry. I strongly feel that Organic Chemistry and many other college science courses could be taught so much simpler. I believe the problem is that Organic Chemistry Professors don't speak "English" when they lecture, they speak "Organic Chemistry." And that is one of the biggest problems with the system. I try to teach "In English" by really paying attention to my word choice and always defining terms for my students.

Having gone through the standard pre-med track at Boston University, I experienced first hand how grueling and tough it is. At first I struggled so much with courses like Chemistry, Biology, Organic Chemistry, and Physics. But then when I began tutoring the subjects, I began seeing the big picture, and it was as if the missing piece of a puzzle just clicked into place for me and it all made sense! Ever since it's been my passion to pass on all I know to my students and help them learn the material in a fraction of the time it took me.

My tutoring style is very active and engaging as described by many of my students. And I make sure it's not just another lecture for them, but rather a stimulating session that involves plenty of dialogue and critical thinking. I try to never let my students be passive during tutoring. I keep them on their toes by having them teach the material back to me or each other and I often have them create problems for each other to test their understanding and to make things more fun!

My favorite topics to teach include Alkene and Benzene reactions, Epoxides (forming them and opening them), R and S Chiral Centers, NMRs, and the Aldol|Claissen|Michael|Robinson Reactions. I look forward to working with you whether it's via Skype or in-person!

Thanks Kesav! Always great to see your improvements from session to session! :D

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Organic Chemistry

I love making Orgo easy for my students! I've worked with students all over the U.S, Canada, U.K, and Australia for Organic Chemistry. I took both Organic Chemistry 1 and 2 at Boston University. And I have 6+ years of tutoring experience since my Sophomore year at Boston University where I tutored Biology, Human Physiology, Chinese, Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Physics.

I also have made 75+ Organic Chemistry videos on YouTube for students worldwide, that are highly watched (~2+ Million Views). My tutoring sessions are described as very engaging and active. I always make sure my sessions aren't just a lecture, but rather a stimulating session that involves plenty of dialogue and critical thinking.

Awesome tutor!

Frank is an amazing tutor! He is really patient with me, and always helps me talk through problems. He has helped me develop logical thinking in organic chemistry, and he even makes it fun (which who knew that was possible!). I Skype with him, which works perfectly since I am a college student without any easy transportation. I highly recommend Frank to anyone who needs help with organic chemistr
