I am passionate about working with children and helping them succeed in school. I am currently a Psychology major at Purdue University, and I plan to pursue graduate studies in School Counseling. My academic background has given me a strong understanding of child development, learning strategies, and how to support students not only academically but also socially and emotionally.
I have extensive hands-on teaching experience with elementary-age students. I worked as a teacher’s aide in an elementary school classroom, where I supported students in all subject areas, provided one-on-one help during lessons, and led small group activities. When the classroom teacher went on maternity leave, I stepped in to take on many of her responsibilities, including managing the class and guiding students through their lessons. This experience gave me valuable insight into how to adapt lessons for different learners and maintain a structured, positive classroom environment.
In addition to my classroom work, I have taught dance to children ages 3–14, worked in daycare settings, volunteered with Vacation Bible School, and provided tutoring and homework help as a nanny. These roles have taught me how to make learning interactive and engaging — whether that’s using creative activities, breaking down material step by step, or offering encouragement that builds confidence. Overall, my experience exceeds 10 years.
My approach to tutoring is student-centered. I meet each child where they are and help them move forward with patience and consistency. My goal is to help students not only understand their schoolwork but also develop study skills, organization, and confidence that will serve them for years to come. Parents often tell me I have a natural way of connecting with kids, and that is the part of teaching I value most.
