I graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor of Science in biology, and I have 5+ years of tutoring experience with a focus in mathematics and biology. I currently offer algebra and biology tutoring with a focus on 1:1 tutoring (reduced online rate). My tutoring methods tend to be more conversational and goal oriented. I am in no rush to get you to an answer, I am more focused on getting you comfortable with the material. However, we can learn at whatever pace you...

I am in no rush to get you to an answer, I am more focused on getting you comfortable with the material. However, we can learn at whatever pace you choose!
When I was tutoring at Joliet Junior College for two years, I was a paid peer tutor that focused on algebra, biology, chemistry, accounting, economics, and GED testing. I did sessions with both individuals and with groups of three. The format was with both scheduled goal-oriented learning and with drop in students seeking help with specific problems. The ages of the students that I worked with were high school AP students, college students, and retired adults returning for their GED.
I continued to tutor the same courses throughout my two undergraduate years at Illinois State University. After graduating, I joined a fungal genetics lab for graduate research and I also became a paid teaching assistant. I led lab-based coursework for students in molecular biology and biological diversity* courses and I taught non-major biology coursework** as well. These classes were between 20-30 students per section, and I taught 3 sections every semester. In each of these courses, I would provide a lecture-based instruction at the beginning of the section and then I would move onto lab demonstrations with the expectation that the class would follow along. I also graded the coursework for the students and provided feedback to them.
My current profession is in clinical laboratory science as a supervisor, but I would be happy to discuss research lab work as well. Feel free to reach out with any questions and I look forward to working with you!
