I a Certified Teacher and Reading Specialist who has been working with students for about 20 years. My educational background includes a Professional Teaching License with endorsements in Elementary Teaching K-6, Reading Specialist PK-12, Math 5-12, and Early Literacy PK-5. Additionally, I hold 3 Masters Degrees in Teaching (Elementary Education, Special Education, and Curriculum and Instruction); 2 Specialist Certificates from Ball State Teachers College (Reading Specialist and School Interventions) and a Certificate in Advanced Spanish from UW Milwaukee (with ACTFL Certification). I have lots of experience teaching elementary and middle school students in small group and individual settings as well as instructing whole groups of students in a classroom. I have provided individual lessons to students ages 5-14 in all the core subjects, including reading, spelling, vocabulary, writing, math, science, social studies, and Spanish. I have taught English to ELL students from many countries in Europe and South America.

My tutoring approach is based on the individual student. First, I usually administer some type of educational assessment to determine the child's level and relative strengths and weaknesses. Based on this information, I tailor the lesson to the needs of the student to ensure he/she will make progress and be successful. I use a variety of researched-based programs in my sessions, some from major publishers like Pearson and others that I have designed based on the subject and how the student learns.
