Hi, I'm Trey! I am a Northwestern Undergraduate majoring in Biology and Psychology. In my time here, I have developed a strong academic foundation, particularly in mathematics. My coursework and independent studying have prepared me to confidently tutor in math subjects up through single-variable calculus. In addition to my academic experience, I scored a 1570 on my SAT, thus I am very comfortable in my understanding in both the Math and Evidence-Based Reading and Writing section of the exam. This background allows me to support students not only with subject mastery for these topics but also with general standardized test preparation strategies.
As part of my involvement in the National Honor Society, I participated in peer tutoring - however, I continued beyond the required single semester and supported my peers for two years. In this role, I worked with fellow high school students in one-on-one settings, helping them navigate coursework in math, science, and their reading and writing skills. This experience strengthened my ability to communicate complex ideas in a digestible way and supported my ability to adapt and support different types of learners.
My tutoring approach focuses on breaking down challenging material into manageable, bite-sized pieces while encouraging students to engage with the content. I really want to support my students in building their confidence and problem-solving skills, which I will do by tailoring each session to their specific needs and learning styles. Through both my peer tutoring experience and continued academic studies, I have developed a supportive and structured approach that helps students make steady, meaningful progress towards their goals.
