I’m a speech-language pathologist, educator, and higher education leader with 15+ years of experience in clinical practice, teaching, and academic administration; 3+ years of experience overseeing graduate admissions for three top-ranked programs at Northwestern University. I earned my BS ('09) and MA ('11) in Comm Sciences & Disorders from New Mexico State University and a clinical doctorate (SLPD, '22) from Northwestern University. My doctoral work focused on the scientific and behavioral foundations of teaching & learning, health & education policy, org leadership, and adv research methods. I also hold a Higher Education Teaching Certificate ('22) from Harvard’s Bok Center. I've taught anatomy, physiology, neuroscience, and motor learning courses in ways that feel intuitive, applied, and genuinely useful. I've also taught professional integration, reflective practice, and career development with an emphasis on storytelling, comm strategy, leadership presence, and navigating major career pivots.
My teaching experience spans large graduate lecture courses with 60+ students, asynchronous online grad courses, professional seminars, national and international conference presentations, and 1:1 medical training mentorship, supporting adult learners in college admissions prep, through entry level clinical degree programs, and during significant career pivots.
My approach is student-centered and conversational. I focus on helping learners understand WHY a concept matters, not just how to memorize it, and I use visuals, spaced repetition, storytelling, and case-based examples to make challenging material more approachable. I believe learning is easiest when you feel supported and guided by someone who genuinely enjoys the subject.
