With a robust background in public speaking and debate, I bring a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to my tutoring practice. I am currently pursuing a PhD in Rhetoric at Northwestern University, following a successful career as a public speaking and debate instructor at Harvard University. My journey into education began with a debate scholarship during my undergraduate studies in Political Science and Human Communication. This foundation led me to a role at Harvard, where I spent seven years coaching policy debate, including mentoring the top team in the nation.
My academic credentials are complemented by a Master’s degree in Communication Studies, with a focus on Rhetoric, Language, and Political Communication. This educational background supports my ability to assist with a wide range of subjects, from academic conference presentation preparation to public speaking and interpersonal skills. I have developed and taught debate and public speaking curricula for diverse age groups, including elementary-aged students, and I have significant experience working with ESL/EFL students in China and Taiwan.
My approach to tutoring is rooted in a passion for fostering both confidence and competence in my students. I enjoy crafting personalized learning experiences that cater to each individual's needs, whether they are young learners excited about their first debate competition or adults seeking to refine their public speaking skills.
